Our intention here is to provide an ever-increasing series of notes on the history of the Celts and their Art. These pages represent the first stage in this process, beginning with a brief summary of celtic history, an examination of the insular illuminated manuscripts of the Celtic Christian era, and some discussion of typical designs and techniques. We intend to add more notes to this site - so any comments, suggestions or questions will be gratefully received, and contributions welcomed and acknowledged.
