The ProScribe Script Fonts

ProScribe contains four different script fonts, which can be installed on your PC or Mac, and used in any program or application. The fonts are supplied in Postscript Type 1 and Truetype formats for the Mac, and Windows Truetype format for the PC. As well as being included on the ProScribe CDROM, the script fonts are also available separately, on the ProScribe Fonts Disc.

The ProScribe Script Fonts are as follows:

Coran is a "half-uncial" script, based on the those used in Lindisfarne and the surrounding area in north-east England, around the tenth century. It is called "half-uncial" because the letters use "ascenders" and "descenders", which protrude above and below the line, unlike earlier "uncial" scripts.

Coran Bold is a true bold version of Coran, provided because it is slighly more authentic than the lighter version, but slightly less legible!

Duncan is a "lesser illuminated" font, supplied as two designs withing one font.

The lower-case characters are as shown in the illustration above, while the upper-case characters have a dotted outline called "rubrication", which scribes used for extra decoration.

Jenner is a more modern Gaelic-style font, often used in Irish designs.

Sean is a tall, straight, almost runic design, also used for "lesser illuminated" sections of text.
